Playa, municipality in Havana City, located in the northwestern part of the city, on the coastal strip. Before the victory of the Cuban revolution, the place was the site of the residences of the republican middle class and now the municipality has become a tourist area with its beautiful mansions and its elegant 5th Avenue as well as home to several embassies and residences of accredited diplomats.
The municipality is characterized by its diversity of cultural values, its theaters, scientific institutions, de luxe restaurants, luxurious shops and hotels by the sea; the internationally Known Cabaret "Tropicana", the one that received the prize "Best of the Best Five Stars Diamond" as the best cabaret of America from the American Academy of Restaurant Industry in 1992.
Besides, in the municipality is located the most remarkable Conference Center in the country "Palacio de las Convenciones".
