Hotel Gran Piedra

Hotel Gran Piedra, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, the only establishment in the country located 1,225 meters above sea level and only 28 km from the city of Santiago de Cuba, among the ruins of old French coffee plantations and farms that dotted the field in the eighteenth century.

This pleasant mountain motel is a kind of paradise where time seems to have stopped. Giant ferns, humid forests, and endemic birds abound here.

This hotel associated with the Gran Piedra and the National Park within the Baconao Natural Park Biosphere Reserve takes its name from the huge rock, weighing approximately 63,000 tons, which crowns the heights of the mountain range of the same name in the Sierra Maestra, east of Santiago de Cuba. This rock is considered the third largest solid stone on the planet, according to the Guinness Book of Records. From the top of this rock the landscape is impressive and on clear days you can even see the blue of the Jamaican mountains.

The hotel is surrounded by the ruins of the old coffee farms that have been declared a UNESCO Cultural Heritage.
