Las Tunas is a Cuban city located in the center of the most western part of the eastern region of Cuba. It is the capital of the province of the same name. The city is also known as "Capital of Cuban sculpture" or "Balcony of Eastern Cuba".
The name of the city and the province comes from the cactus "Las Tunas" that currently proliferates in patios, gardens, roofs and several corners of the city.

The main motivation is commemorative, is performed around each anniversary of the birth of Juan Cristobal Napoles Fajardo "The Cucalambé" on July 1, in order to pay tribute and revitalize the knowledge of the work of who was in the nineteenth century an excellent "decimista".
