I am going to enjoy these plans very much, as I love Cuba as a country, I like the language and above all the people, because they are happy and this does not happen in any other place, he emphasized.
Winner together with Ilia Nastase of the Roland Garros tournament in doubles (1970), three-time finalist of the Davis Cup and winner in 40 tournaments of the Professional Tennis Association (PTA), Tiriac is
considered by many a real guru of the discipline.
In 1972 he left what he called competitive tennis to become a manager of several of the main figures of the circuit PTA like the Argentinean Guillermo Vilas, French Henry Leconte, German Boris Becker, Croatian Goran Ivanisevic and Russian Marat Safin.
Thus that his visit to Havana also anticipated the idea of organizing during 2016, a cup for young tennis players from Latin America and the Caribbean in which could also take part some Romanian players.
Tiriac will return to this capital next January together with his friend and President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, to attend the Grand Prix of that discipline and will be also accompanied by who is considered the best gymnast of all times, his compatriot Nadia Comaneci, he advanced.
