The Cuba Division of Meliá Hotels International has convened a press conference in Havana Tuesday to present its 27-year experience as a partner of Cuban companies and their expansion plans on the island. Francisco Camps Orfila, deputy general director of the division, praised before the press the guarantees of Cuba as a safe, peaceful and legal destination, which have allowed the Spanish chain to consolidate and implement a strategy of inward expansion.
During his speech Camps Orfila reiterated that the firm reached the largest of the Antilles 27 years ago and since then its commitment to this market has remained firm, with the will to stay and new expansion plans not only in the areas of holiday destinations but also , above all, in the heritage cities, where they intend to organize circuits based on the cultural treasures of the Island.
The chain announced last May that it would increase its presence in the center of the island with the eight hotels, and will boost the circuit segment. With this addition, the group will operate five of its brands in the country: Meliá, Paradisus, Innside by Meliá, Sol by Meliá, and Tryp. The new hotels total 931 rooms, and are located in the areas of Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Camagüey. In fact, four of the establishments are already open.
Meliá Hotels International has been a pioneer in the development of tourism in Cuba, with an important participation in the development of new destinations such as the keys of the north of the island and emblematic hotels in the main cities of the country. The statements of the chain occur only a day after the meeting of North American tourism companies that work with Cuba where the security of the destination and the legality of traveling to it were defended.
