Several facilities at the Jardines del Rey destination, north of Ciego de Ávila, have been certified with the most hygienic and safe tourism condition and are ready to receive foreign visitors.
Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in the territory, explained to the Provincial Defense Council that three centers already have this category, among them the Pullman and Playa Paraíso hotels, both in Cayo Coco, which will be the first in open, although they should reach a total of six, gradually.
He specified that the preparation and training continues during the month of July with the aim that all the facilities be certified in the short term by a joint team of MINTUR and specialists in Avilanian health, including those of non-hotel services such as shops, the Parador La chair and shopping centers.
At the same time, all owners of hostels and rental houses in foreign currency have been instructed through seminars on the hygiene and safety protocol that Cuba follows against COVID-19.
Among the sanitary measures by which tenants will be required are the need to inform Public Health if any visitor arrives with any respiratory symptoms, the availability of disinfecting substances in different areas of the house and the daily disinfection of surfaces within the hostels, among others.
Correa Lorenzo pointed out that an isolation center is also defined within the cays for cases that are detected as suspects and control of the travelers is guaranteed from their arrival at the airport with the taking of a PCR-RT sample from each one.
Customers, he said, will have non-hotel options such as nautical excursions, katamaran rides, bird watching, enjoyment of trails and visits to Playa Pilar and Loma del Puerto, the latter area of great natural value, as well as the car rental, only within the destination.
The MINTUR delegate recalled that commercialization for national tourism within the province and excursions to other territories such as Santa Lucia, in Camaguey, Sancti Spíritus, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba and Varadero, which have been widely accepted, are maintained.
The Jardines del Rey destination, made up of Coco and Guillermo keys, has more than nine thousand rooms distributed in 23 hotels, corresponding to the Gran Caribe, Cubanacán, Islazul and Gaviota hotel chains, which have administration contracts with foreign management.
