The lovers of the best cigars on the world will gather for five days, from 23 to 27 February 2015 in the capital of all Cubans, the beautiful Havana, to taste and reconfirm the health of the most internationally famous brands related to Cuba around the world.
For the seventeenth time, the International Festival of Habanos, the largest event of its kind in the country, dedicated to reveal the new brands and innovations in this sector related to the Premium Cigars, bring together more than 2000 personages from many countries and a vast press staff to honor this time two of the most prestigious brands: Montecristo and Romeo and Juliet.
Habanos S.A. is the most important Cuban company responsible for the production, promotion and export of the best Cigars on Earth, 100% Cuban, who is pleased to invite every year all those experts and tasters of Habanos in its different brands and Cigar bands to share with producers and visit areas of protected cultivation and emblematic factories, especially in Pinar del Río and Havana.
The event´s program is this time full of activities taking place in its usual venue: The Palace of Conventions in Havana, but with the peculiarity to expand the spectrum of sites linked to the cultivation and production of this ancient product, well demanded worldwide because of its quality.
The first day of the event, all the participants enjoyed the Night Welcome in the Warehouse of the wood and the Cigars, near the old Port of Havana, where the brand Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Cosecha 2009 was launched and the Nomination to the Prize Habano 2014 in different categories was revealed, all between performances by Cuban musicians of national and international fame.
Today, February 24, the participants of the event will have the opportunity to visit "Vuelta Abajo" in Pinar del Río to experience firsthand the art of planting, collecting and preparing the leaves of this plant and will be visiting the most emblematic Habanos´factories in Pinar del Rio and Havana.
Tomorrow, the day will be dedicated precisely to the 25th anniversary of "La Casa del Habano", an institution with global presence that sells more than 140 brands of recognized Cigars in major cities worldwide, concluding the day with a Tribute Night to the same institution, which has greatly contributed to the development and prestige of the brand.
One of the associated activities with the event will be the famous International Competition Habanosommelier, an extraordinary opportunity to demonstrate skills and knowledge in tasting and combining Habanos with wines from different nationalities and also other whimsical drinks from the imagination of these sommeliers in competition. Besides, the main activity will be linked to the lectures of many teachers in this art and the skills of manufacturers among other initiatives.
Next February 27th will be the last day of the event, which will say good bye until next year 2016 with the great and traditional Gala Dinner dedicated to the brand Montecristo and its special Cigar band 80th anniversary, and also will be held the well-known Humidors Auction, whose collection is offered annually to the National System of Public Health.
