The arrival of tourists to the Cuban destination Jardines del Rey is favorable today, after the recovery of the hotel and recreational facilities seriously affected by the scourge of Hurricane Irma last September.
More than 12 thousand vacationers are housed in the 18 hotels of Cayos Coco and Guillermo, mostly from Canada and the United Kingdom, the main markets for the recreational pole, located on the north coast of Ciego de Ávila.
The commercial specialist of the Ministry of Tourism in the province, Mariuska Martínez, explained that the destination faces the high season with the whole renovated hotel floor, a new image and better comfort of its units.
She pointed out that the Cayo Coco International Airport receives 58 flights every week with air operations of the SunWing, Transat, Air Canada, CanJet, WesJet, Cubana de Aviacion, Thomas Cook, Pegast and Blue Panorama lines.
She added that in recent months increased the income of Russian vacationers to the pole, with the entry every 11 days of a tour operator Pegast tours, almost always with 98 percent occupancy.
The tourist region today exhibits its improved beaches due to the dumping of sand in some areas where the coastline had retreated due to the effects of climate change and construction activity.
Today these places have colorful sunny and attractive ranchones, in addition with their reconstructed footbridges, wooden bridges that lead tourists from the hotels to the bathing areas, and of great importance to protect the coastal dunes and vegetation.
The region also stands out for the extensive extra-hotel network comprising the dolphinarium, the Boad Adventure, the Marlin marinas of Cayo Guillermo and Gaviota on Cayo Coco, as well as the La Silla parador-restaurant and the shopping center, among others.
With the start-up of the Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo hotel, Jardines del Rey will increase the rooms in 18 hotels, four and five star categories, to more than 8,400 rooms.
