An Air Canada company plane from Montreal landed at noon this Friday at the airport of the tourist destination Jardines del Rey, on the first flight of tourists from Canada after the reopening of Cuba to international tourism in its keys.
In a statement, the Ministry of Tourism reported that more than a hundred passengers arrived from the northern country, the main source market for vacationers to the island, who will stay at the Pullman, Playa Paraíso, Memories Caribe and Memories Flamenco hotels in Cayo Coco, as well as in the Grand Muthu, on Cayo Guillermo.
Tourists will have extra-hotel options within the tourist center, where they can interact with the nature that exists in Jardines del Rey and enjoy its nautical attractions.
The Mintur highlighted that the resumption of tourism operations with the tour operator Air Canada Vacations, after the opening of Cuba to international tourism in the post-COVID-19 stage, “shows the existing confidence in the health system, which certified with the most Hygienic and Safe Tourism condition for hotel and non-hotel facilities, transportation and marine services ”.
This certification includes compliance with strict hygiene and safety protocols, PCR tests and medical monitoring in each accommodation.
The tour operator will return to Jardines del Rey next Friday with another group of tourists from Montreal and at the end of the month he will do so from Toronto.
According to Reuters, Air Canada Vacations said it will fly to Cuba weekly and biweekly starting next month.
In 2019, more than 1.1 million tourists from Canada arrived in Cuba.
