Cuba continues seeking economic and trade relations with foreign partners
The Cuban government aims to diversify and strengthen their economic and trade relations with foreign countries, so that country officials have held meetings with business representatives from nations like Japan, Spain and Iran.

On the one hand, Ali Chegeni, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, spoke of intentions to grow with Cuba in areas such as pharmaceuticals and tourism, which can be materialized through new trade agreements on joint session of the intergovernmental commission to be held soon in Tehran. 

Also motivated by new opportunities Cuba offers to foreign investment, a delegation of Japanese businessmen has underlined his desire to participate in business with the island. As part of the Japan-Cuba Economic Conference both nations adopted action plans to revive economic ties in the coming years. Again, the biopharmaceutical industry sectors and tourism aroused the interest of the foreign counterpart, but also, opportunities in the fishing area.

Another recent event very favorable for the development of economic ties between Cuba and its major trading partners, was the opening of the representation of the Spanish Insurance Company Export Credit (CESCE) to cover operations on the island.

At meetings of the Business Cooperation Committee Hispano-Cuban, held in late September in Havana, representatives of the Spanish business community based in Cuba valued positive measure, an important step in bilateral economic ties.

At the meeting, the Spanish delegation met with senior executives of Cuban Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Transport, Energy and Mining and Construction; while experienced firsthand the new Cuban tax regime for foreign companies and investment projects that are prioritized in these sectors.
