The Asian giant is showing signs of interest in the expansion of tourism in Cuba, according to Ma Kequian, deputy director of the Chinese Embassy in Havana. His Excellency said that the Asian firm with extensive international presence Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited aims to create a five star hotel with golf at the eastern part of Havana in conjunction with the Cuban group Palmares.
The Cuban-Chinese joint venture is interested also in the Marina Hemingway, west of the Cuban capital, whose main investor is the Chinese company Suntime, and whose implementation will be this year 2015.
The world's biggest economy recognizes that Cuba has enough attractions to develop tourism focused on the Chinese segment in the capital by providing investment and trade development between the two nations historically related by political ties. Incidentally, recently, the airline Air China declared its interest in establishing direct flights to the island from September, a step forward in relations in tourism between the two countries, mainly fueled by the increase in the tourist flow China towards Cuba in recent years.
