The newborn Canadian airline OWG will offer direct flights to Cuba, aboard the modern B737-400, announced the tour operator of that country "Hello Sun Holidays" with whom it was associated for these procedures and thus Cuba will depart as its inaugural destination.
The partnership between the tour operator and the Canadian airline will allow direct flights to the Island "with excellent departure times", while the OWG airline will have the possibility to check-in online and will provide Select Class updates.
Direct flights are expected to begin on November 1 of this year, specifically to Cuban destinations such as Cayo Coco, Holguín, Santa Clara and Varadero; some of these open to Canadian tourism from July 1, although restricted to the northern keys of the country.
Flights, according to the official "Hello Sun Holidays" page, would depart from the Canadian city of Toronto, with prices to Varadero (round trip), for example, from $ 548. While in December they announce flights to Cayo Coco and Santa Clara, from the same previous price.
However, the tour operator, promotes packages to Cuba, from before, since September, such as the Pullman Cayo Coco from $ 928 for a week of stay or the Rancho Luna de Cienfuegos in November from $ 828 also for a week.
OWG is a recently opened airline, barely a week old and in the midst of a global tourism crisis. Last week, Nolinor Aviation with 27 years of experience, announced the creation of OWG, at which time they reported that since 2018 they were working to "create a new airline that will position them in the market for tourist flights."
Nolinor Aviation for its part is based in Quebec, and will launch with a fleet of three Boeing 737-400s that were acquired earlier this year. They call the aircraft "modern" even though the aircraft type is two whole generations older than the current 737 MAX family. However, OWG says it has "invested several million dollars" in restoring old planes with a new interior, with 158 budget seats.
For the past 27 years, Nolinor has offered charter transportation solutions, primarily to the extreme north, with its fleet of about ten Boeing 737s. The Nolinor Aviation team has been working quietly since 2018 to create a new airline that will position them in the tourist flight market in Canada and as they know that Cuba is one of the favorites for Canadians, they are betting on it.
"The OWG crew will benefit from the experience developed by Nolinor Aviation during the crisis, while continuing to serve certain destinations in northern Canada," company officials said.
