American Airlines plans flights to Cuba for the end of August.

American Airlines plans flights to Cuba for the end of August.
The North American airline American Airlines informed the Hispanic chain in the United States, Telemundo, that it values the restart of its flights to Cuba by the end of August.

According to the television outlet, American Airlines is planning to resume regular flights to Cuba and its operations on August 20.

“Flights are already available on the website, even for days prior to that date confirmed by American Airlines. There is one enabled its official platform for August 8 and it has a price of 1500 dollars ", reads on the Telemundo network.

They add that in the following days there are four daily scheduled flights, two in the morning and two in the afternoon, departing from Miami International Airport. According to the official American website, the prices in economy class, round trip from Miami to Havana, are over 200 dollars by August 20.

From the United States they say that American is currently the only American airline interested in resuming flights with the island, because neither United nor Jetblue have notified the return of flights to Cuba.

A week ago the Univisión network, also from the United States, reported that it had had access to an email from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated June 17, which indicated the reopening of charter flights between the two nations for the second fortnight of August.

And apparently it is the same email, to which the American Airlines airline had access, which plans its return for August 20, although the Cuban capital, Havana, will continue in phase 1 and until its arrival in the third phase they would not open flights through the José Martí International Airport.

As is known, flights from the United States can only operate to the capital airport, due to recent restrictions by the Donald Trump administration.

The Cuban government opened its borders for tourism since last July 1, but only through three airports (Cayo Coco, Cayo Largo del Sur and Santa Clara). However, from the United States there is no flight that can link both nations.

Several American television stations, such as Telemundo and Univisión, reported that people interested in traveling to Cuba from the United States still do not have official information, for an exact day, although the airlines are considering a date in the second half of August.

They also add that if you are a resident in Cuba, you should request exit permits from the Ministry of the Interior.

"Many fear that Cuba will put additional requirements like this so that its citizens can leave the country," they added from Telemundo.

Likewise, the Cuban Ministry of Transportation warned in a Round Table that until Havana passes the third phase of recovery, commercial flights will not resume.

Really, seeing as the dates are being delayed, due to the outbreaks in the Cuban capital and in Bauta, several airlines that had scheduled flights for August are delaying them until September. So American will probably have to delay, like many others (Evelop) her return to Cuba.
