Park View Hotel, Havana, Cuba. Originally built in 1928, this hotel was the pride of Havana. Located in Old Havana, just 2 blocks away from the Museum of Fine Arts and Central Park.
Old Havana and its fortification system led UNESCO to declare it a part of the world heritage in 1982. Founded on its current site in 1519, the town of San Cristóbal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port which hosted ships sailing to and from the New World.
Starting in 1634, due to its strategic location, San Cristóbal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World, as evidenced by the royal letters of the time, it also became the main defense of the West Indies.
The Cuban capital is made up of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built over the course of almost five centuries. These styles range from pre-baroque to baroque, neo-gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art nouveau, and art deco, to the modern.
Alejo Carpentier, one of the most famous authors in Cuba, called it "the city of columns" and focused his attention on its streets, which he considered a perennial and rich spectacle of life, humanity and contrasts, which can make the delights of any observer.
