Hotel Meson de la Flota
located in Old Havana, state Havana cityHotel decription:
Hotel Mesón de la Flota, located on Mercaderes street, a few steps from the Plaza Vieja, the Hotel Mesón de la Flota maintains the legends of the Galleon fleets in Havana.
The inn has five comfortable rooms and a restaurant that seats 80 people, stemming from the old tradition of providing a place to sleep on the upper floors and a place to eat on the ground floor. The whole place is decorated with marine motifs, with small replicas of old ships. The grace and passion of a "tabla'o flamenco" invite you to enjoy the city at night.
Old Havana and its system of fortifications led UNESCO to declare it a part of the world heritage in 1982. Founded on its current site in 1519, the town of San Cristóbal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port in which the ships that sailed to and from the New World converged.
Starting in 1634, due to its strategic location, San Cristóbal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World.
The Cuban capital is made up of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built over the course of almost five centuries. These styles range from pre-baroque to baroque, neo-gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art nouveau, and art deco, to the modern.
Alejo Carpentier, one of the most famous authors in Cuba, called it "the city of columns" and focused his attention on its streets, which he considered a perennial and rich spectacle of life, humanity and contrasts, which can make the delights of any observer.
