Plaza Hostal was built in 1843 as a family mansion, but by 1914 the place had been transformed into a café, pastry shop, guest house and meeting place for the main landowners in the central region of the country.
The premises were reopened in 1996, after being completely rebuilt in such a way that all the old colonial-style features of the building were restored to their original glory.
Hostal Plaza is a fairly small hotel with only 29 rooms. Its facilities include a 24-hour bar, a restaurant that offers international and national cuisine, a tourism bureau, from where you can book various excursions to visit the Museum of Colonial Art (the house of a hundred doors), the Parish Mayor Church (Monument Nacional), the bridge over the Yayabo river, the Rubén Martínez Villena library and many more.
