Ciego de Ávila is the capital city of the province of Ciego de Ávila, located in the south-eastern part of the island of Cuba. Almost in the middle of the island, the province is a bridge between the eastern and the western parts of Cuba, and a place for the diffusion of cultural and scientific ideas and activities. In the main city, there are many buildings with a modern style, but, at the same time, many traces of the colonial architecture.

There are many places in the city that the visitors can not forget to visit.These are: the Main Church, which is a real attraction in the city because of its eclectic architeture, the Theater Principal, considered as one of the best theaters in the island and a real gem of the architecture in the center of the city and the Central Park José Martí, located in the historic center that has its origin in 1800 and it is a place of contrasts and confluences. The park has a square where the band of concerto of the province plays every Sunday.
